Teacher Development Aotearoa
TDA wanted a more efficient approach to extract and synthesize information into actionable feedback reports, while maintaining high-quality analysis and feedback.
Teacher Development Aotearoa (TDA) had developed a thorough approach to analysing bi-annual impact reports from 35 educational organisations. Their dedicated team meticulously reviewed these comprehensive reports, each containing 10+ pages of valuable data on events, teacher resources, and program outcomes. This process required significant investment of their time—approximately two months per cycle. TDA wanted a more efficient approach to extract and synthesize information into actionable feedback reports, while maintaining high-quality analysis and feedback.
Intelligent Document Analysis App
Arcanum implemented a comprehensive document analysis solution powered by AWS generative AI services. Leveraging Amazon Bedrock and AWS Q for Business, we created a document summarisation application. The solution automated the extraction of key information and intelligently synthesised findings into structured feedback reports, dramatically reducing the manual effort required and providing more time for nuanced feedback.
Processing time for impact report analysis reduced from 2 months to just 2 weeks (86% reduction)
Dramatic Time Savings
Processing time for impact report analysis reduced from 2 months to just 2 weeks (86% reduction), allowing staff to focus on strategic initiatives rather than administrative tasks.
Daily Operational Improvements
The document summarisation application became a useful tool for the client's team, providing immediate value beyond the bi-annual reporting cycles.
Scalable Analysis Capabilities
AWS Q for business enabled the client to handle increasing volumes of reports without proportional increases in staff time or resources, future-proofing their analysis capabilities.

Building on this successful implementation, TDA is also expanding their AI initiatives in several directions including Meeting efficiency
Last year TDA was using an alternative AI solution for automating note-taking, but they wanted to find an even more secure solution for their data. They now use Arcanum's Meeting Analyser to automatically transcribe client meetings and generate summary reports and draft emails, saving on manual note-taking and reducing turnaround time. With Arcanum’s Meeting Analyser, they also have the benefit of more control over the output of reports and even get drafted follow up emails too!

Providing TDA’s clients access to Arcanum’s Numa Apps
Supporting the 35 volunteer run non-profit education organisations in order to enable them to streamline their work, saving them valuable time. These organisations are teacher led, and run their nationwide organisations on the side, and they support teachers in many ways including Professional Learning Development and resource development.
AI powered Curriculum Support
Together Arcanum and TDA are exploring building an AI powered curriculum set to allow all NZ teachers the ability to ask questions and access relevant information they need about the NZ curriculum. Being trained solely on specific relevant data from MoE, NCEA, NZQA, ERO, TDA, Networks of Expertise websites, and having specific inbuilt guardrails will ensure it is safe to use. The aim is to save teachers time manually searching multiple websites, by instead being able to simply ask questions and get the answers they need in seconds.
Securely connecting the power of AI with historic data
TDA have a lot of historical data from 7 years of milestone reports, and are excited to connect their Sharepoint data with Arcanum’s Numa Platform. This will allow them to get value from their data by being able to easily find information about previous milestone reports and gaining key insights by quickly analysing the information.
