Arcanum AI Announces Multi-Year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS to Accelerate Generative AI Innovation for SMBs

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – 30 November 2023 – New Zealand-based AI and automation company Arcanum AI today announced a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud. Arcanum AI, an AWS artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) Technology Partner, will deliver generative AI-powered services built on AWS for customers to increase productivity within the workplace and automate back-office operations. Through the SCA, the born-in-the-cloud business is looking to expand its offices outside of Australia and New Zealand to the United States in 2024, supporting its business to double in size in 12 months.

As part of this SCA, Arcanum AI and AWS will collaborate to increase the adoption of AI, including generative AI, with startups, small and medium-sized business (SMBs), and larger enterprises. Arcanum AI will also focus on underserved SMBs with limited or no access to the latest technologies attributable to lack of skills or technical knowledge in the hospitality, construction, manufacturing, and financial services sectors. Arcanum AI will integrate AWS’s AI and ML services into its no-code offering – creating a simple solution that bypasses technical roadblocks so that customers can easily incorporate AI into their existing solutions without coding or complex manual integration. This can help SMBs who are starting out or have minimal in-house AI capabilities, develop advanced solutions. The AWS AI and ML services include Amazon SageMaker JumpStart, an ML hub with foundation models (FMs), built-in algorithms, and pre-built ML solutions to access pre-trained models. These can be used to condense lengthy reports, financial statements, and customer inquiries into digestible summaries. Other services include Amazon Textract, a ML service that automatically extracts text, handwriting, layout elements, and data from scanned documents. By leveraging AWS technologies, Arcanum AI can help SMB businesses overcome digital skills gaps to deploy the latest cloud-enabled technologies and achieve business outcomes.

AI adoption will help SMBs operate 20% faster than traditional counterparts by automating core processes, enabling effort to be put into more impactful and growth-orientated activities. The SCA provides Arcanum AI with a scale mechanism to accelerate its mission of driving SMB productivity in the long term, with funding, marketing, and technical support from AWS. Arcanum AI’s no-code approach, combined with AWS’s generative AI capabilities like Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that makes foundational models available via an API, will drive productivity and uncover new ways to serve customers. It is expected to support the demand for automating back-office tasks like data entry and repetitive email communication, which could boost overall SMB productivity by 25%

“Arcanum AI launched on AWS from Day One, and AWS has been supporting us through programs like AWS Activate where we are able to access AWS credits and technical support to rapidly scale our business since 2016,” said Asa Cox, CEO of Arcanum AI. “Signing a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS deepens our cooperation with AWS, and is a testament to our pioneering vision of supporting customers with AI adoption. By leveraging the broadest and deepest set of AWS services and tapping on AWS’s world-leading global infrastructure, we're one step closer to expanding our footprint internationally and making AI, generative AI, and ML technologies more accessible to our customers and support their growth.”

AWS will support Arcanum AI to deepen industry innovation through its team of AI assistants developed in-house. Currently, one of the AI assistants built by Arcanum AI, Archie, focuses on financial backend operations and supports accounts payable administration, helping to improve cash flow visibility, a critical operational benefit to SMBs. TAPI, a property maintenance software leveraged Archie to process 100,000 invoices per month since going live in Feb 2023 – a ten times increase from before. Arcos, an AI customer support assistant, provides customer agents with frequently asked questions freeing up their time for value-added tasks. Debt collections provider, Debtworks, experienced a 200% increase in contact centre agent productivity since going live in Oct 2023. Arcanum AI plans to scale their AI Assistants to support key industries where SMBs often lack the support they require to drive business growth. AWS will support Arcanum AI in building out its team of AI Assistants from two to five; expanding into sustainability, sales, and human resources. AWS will provide technical expertise on generative AI and access to AWS technologies to develop and experiment with proof-of-concepts.

“We believe the value and potential of using generative AI technology is in leveraging the exceptional human capabilities we have,” said Arcanum AI customer and CEO of recruitment specialist firm Momentum Consulting New Zealand, Nick Roberts. “Archie continues to enhance Momentum Consulting’s offerings, increase our capacity to focus on more value-added tasks to keep employees productive such as securing employment opportunities for candidates and supporting our business goal to be the leading tech recruitment firm in NZ. We want to lead the way for others in the industry and are delighted that Arcanum AI is collaborating with AWS, and look forward to deepening AI innovation with the industry leaders.”

Beyond the SCA, through initiatives like the Generative AI Center of Excellence (CoE) for AWS Partners, AWS will support Arcanum AI’s international expansion into Australia and the United States. The Generative CoE provides education and training resources for partners that bridge the potential of artificial intelligence and the growing landscape of generative AI tools, applications, and use cases that are positioned to improve AWS customer experiences globally. Arcanum AI will initiate a comprehensive marketing program to engage SMBs and tap onto AWS’s network of customers and partners to engage with industry leaders and address challenges SMBs are facing today.

“We are proud to collaborate with Arcanum AI to support their goals to expand the use of generative AI, and power industries and SMBs,” said Tiffany Bloomquist, New Zealand Country Manager, Commercial Sales. “AWS is committed to making AI and ML more accessible to all organisations including startups, SMBs, and larger enterprises across all industries. We’re delighted to share this same vision with Arcanum AI and support the startup to accelerate their AI innovation, and empower customers to address real-world industry needs.”
